About Steph Carter

My story

My career in childcare started over 20 years ago. Working in social services, I faced the frustration of trying to balance a hectic work schedule, with childcare for my own children.

In 2004, I took the leap into childminding. Based at my own home I was able to care for my own children, as well as accommodating the growing demand for childcare from families in the area.

I am now the proud owner of three successful day nurseries and two before and after school clubs. I previously owned a pre-school and baby unit on a domestic setting, so I have experience in all types of settings. The organic growth of my business has led me to where I am today and we’re still growing.

Over the years, there isn’t much I haven’t seen. I’ve faced the frustration of being rated Inadequate by Ofsted (twice). I’ve successfully fought to get the grades overturned (you can win).

My knowledge and experience have brought me to this point, where I can offer bespoke consultancy and training to other childminders, pre-schools, and nurseries nationwide.

As your dedicated early years consultant, my aim is to work with you to help you overcome any obstacles that are in the way. Childcare can be a high-pressured environment, but I can help you thrive and become the best you can possibly be.

In my own time (the little I have left) I am a proud Nana and owner of 2 beautiful Pomeranian who love to come to the nurseries with me, the staff, and children love them. Professional development is my favourite word it’s what makes us grow.
